On February 19 of next year, traditional analog television broadcasts will cease. Legacy televisions will go dark, and only those who have upgraded to digital tuners will receive over-the-air television. While cable and satellite subscribers are not subject to the digital switch in 2009, everyone who watches TV should be aware of what's happening and why. While the technological benefits of digital broadcasting are many, ultimately the reason for the DTV switch is money.
